PRINCIPAL

Krista Beal

Welcome to Van Alstyne High School! It is truly my honor to serve as Principal and to work with
such a wonderful group of educators and students.

I received a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master’s Degree
from Lamar University. This will be my seventeenth year in public education. My husband, Ted,
and I are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter, who are all grown. We absolutely love
spending time with our children, in-law children and especially our four precious grandchildren.

At VAHS we guide our students to develop real-world skills that will empower their future and
we encourage them to take part in the rich traditions of being a Van Alstyne Panther. Whether
that is through Ag/FFA, athletics, culinary arts, fine arts, academics or athletics.

I look forward to getting to know all of our new students and their families as we work together
in the 2024-2025 school year. Please let me know if there is any way that I may assist you or
your student. My door is always open.

This is going to be a fantastic year!

Mrs. Krista Beal
Principal

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Dr Maresh
Howdy Van Alstyne High School Students and Parents,

I am honored to join the Van Alstyne ISD community for the 2024-2025 school year. This will be
my first year serving the Van Alstyne community. My wife, Rachael, and I have called North
Texas home for many years, and we are both active in our roles as educators. My wife is a
structured learning teacher for students with autism in Denison ISD. We have two beautiful
children, Sutton Jo (3) and Crew Wilder (4 months).

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Studies (2016), a Master of Education degree
with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction (2017), and a Doctor of Education degree in
Educational Leadership (2024), all from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I began my career
as a youth minister and served in various capacities within the church for ten years. As an
educator, I have taught and coached at the elementary, intermediate, and middle school levels.
I strongly believe in servant leadership and building positive relationships with all stakeholders
in our school community. We all have a role in helping our students succeed. I look forward to
meeting and working with you and your students this year!

Keep moving forward,

Dr. Joel Maresh
Assistant Principal
